The Ministry of Education, Sırbistan üniversiteleri is mainly responsible for the education system of Serbia. The Ministry administers the preschool, primary, secondary and higher education system in Serbia. Also, it encourages scientific and technological research.
The universities are independent advanced schooling institutions in Serbia that offer many study programmes whatsoever levels of study. Universities in Serbia execute educational, artistic, technical and scientific work. Lots of the study programmes from the universities in Serbia are supplied through the faculties that are part of the university.
Faculties: These institutions are area of the universities in Serbia. Academies of Arts: These are portion of the universities in Serbia and offer courses inside the artistic discipline. The faculty and academy of arts act as per the statutes of the university. Both faculty and academy of the arts provide academic too professional study programmes. These institutions execute scientific research, artistic and professional activities in a number of fields.
Basic academic studies: This research last for 3 to 4 years. To gain admittance to the basic academic studies, students must have completed 4-year secondary education. ECTS: 180-240 credits. At the end of bachelor degree programme, students must defend their final thesis. The ultimate thesis might or might not be required; it depends on the curriculum in the specific course.
Upon successful completing the basic academic studies, bachelor degree is awarded. Students who complete the fundamental academic studies with a minimum of 240 ECTS credits or for about four years are awarded a bachelor with honors degree.
A foreign citizen may go into the study programme beneath the same conditions as being a local citizen. An international citizen pays school fees through the school, unless an international agreement or even a bilateral agreement between the universities determined otherwise.
An overseas citizen may enroll in the faculty if he/she provides an evidence of competence within the Serbian language in accordance to the University Statute or the competence from the language of instruction and if he or she has any adverse health insurance. A candidate – an overseas applicant for that studies, along with the application has to submit a nostrificated diploma of finished senior high school that can last for four years along with a proof of citizenship.
The larger education system in Serbia offers 2 kinds of studies: academic studies realized at universities, and applied studies realized primarily at colleges of applied studies, and occasionally at universities as well.
In medical science (studies of medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine), integrated classes are organized in the duration of 6 years and carrying no less than 360 ECTS. Pharmacy studies also provide integrated courses that carry 300 ECTS. Advanced schooling in Serbia is provided by/at universities and colleges which are either public or private.
An Academy of Applied Studies has additionally been envisaged from the AW, but no such institution continues to be founded yet. The two main options concerning students’ fees. “Budget-financed“ students have their tuition fees paid through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, but they need to pay administrative and other costs (entrance and application fees when enrolling in a advanced schooling institution, fees for issuing diploma and diploma supplement, obligatory payments for exams (in some cases applicable just to self-financing students), issuing certificates – of student’s status, of passed exams etc.).
Serbia started the reform of its advanced schooling system by joining the Bologna Process in 2003, followed by the adoption in the new Law on Advanced Schooling in 2005. This law formally introduced the European Credit Transfer System, three-cycle system of study and diploma supplement. Consequently, from the school year 2007/8, all newly admitted students have studied under the reformed study programmes whatsoever higher education institutions. The reform process was continued by the adoption of the standards for accreditation, self-evaluation and external quality control in 2006, which set conditions for the beginning of the entire process of accreditation ldlecz higher education institutions and study programmes in 2007.
Based on the Law on Advanced Schooling, every study programme is defined through the number of ECTS. Each course inside the study programme is valued through the number of ECTS whilst the total sum of ECTS is different from no less than 180 for three year programmes as low as possible of 240 ECTS for 4 year programmes in the bachelor level, a minimum of 60 to 120 ECTS (for a couple of year programmes respectively) at the master level and also at least 180 ECTS in the PhD level.
Strategy for the Development of Education in Serbia until 2020, adopted in 2012, is also a significant document seeking to identify purposes, goals, directions, instruments and mechanisms for the development of the education system within the Republic of Serbia until 2020. Quite simply, the Strategy is designed to shape the development of this method in the best possible way.
